Bausch & Lomb manufactured the famous Ray-Ban sunglasses in 1937. They were manufactured for the United States Army Air Corps. Subsequently, Italian Luxottica Group bought the brand from Bausch & Lomb in 1999 for .2 billion. The anti-glare technology was developed after a suggestion from Lieutenant Mc Cready, who had difficulty during flying a balloon.
